Northern Thailand

Our Southeast Asian travels took an unexpected direction - to the airport in Ho Chi Minh City. We touched down in Bangkok shortly thereafter, and started on yet more time in Thailand. We love it here, and this time our prayers for guidance seem to have resulted in a more northern destination... Chang Mai.

  • The Bangkok train station
  • Waiting for our train with a black cat and a book on his phone.
  • The train on our left became our very comfortable home for about 15 hours.
  • A Thai, air-con sleeper train. Two beds to a berth and quite comfortable.
  • This is a fantastic way to travel!
  • Gazing out the window in the morning.
  • We arrived in Chang Mai, got a place to sleep and... went for breakfast.
  • Yellow curry, fried rice, and water!
  • A super cool cat with two different eye colors. And a desire for attention.

  • Well, Saturday found John and me at the Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai. It was intimidating, but amazing, as we lived every little kid's dream and petted tigers of all ages, while saying silent prayers to not be mauled. <br />
We started with 'smallest' on the list of tigers (besides newborn.) They were teeny cute adorable sleeping creatures, unfazed by the attention. Evidently they sleep 15 hours a day at this age.
