52 Portraits

I started in 2014, with a goal of taking one self-portrait a week for a year. I, unsurprisingly, fell short of that goal, and stretched on into 2015. Rather than quit, I chose to embrace change and alter my project to suit my punctuality problem. I'm still having tons of fun and there is much to be learned, so here it goes. 52 Portraits.

I've stopped saying 'week' in my title, because, well, we all know about my punctuality problem. This photograph took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out the light for. Considering the fact that I've taken more single-light-source and low-key self-portraits than anyone should (um like, at least 5?) I think it's a pretty good indicator that I need to start focusing. Something about learning - sometimes it stops happening when you stop pursuing it.

I was having such a hard time with this photo, I finally thought to pray about it in the middle of dealing with my light. Thankfully that resulted in this - or you'd have an even worse photo on your Facebook news feed this evening (or no photo at all!)

And also, happy shooting and self-portraiting, all you photographer friends! I love seeing your constantly improving work here on Facebookland!
